81’s Forfeit Game 6 in OEHL Ruling Over Alleged Player Eligibility Issue

81’s Forfeit Game 6 in OEHL Ruling Over Alleged Player Eligibility Issue

While there was suppose to be a game 7 in Ripley for the Wolves and Minto 81’s, there will not be one after all.

The Wolves have been given the game 6 win on a forfeit by the 81’s for an alleged player eligibility issue.

The 81’s in a statement say they were given approval from the OEHL Commissioner to dress an affiliate goalie who would go on to win game 6.

The Ripley Wolves say they were made aware of this player prior to the game that a goalie would be played who was not rostered or registered with the team, with the team reviewing the OEHL rulebook eventually leading to the team notifying the commissioner they would be playing the game but under protest of use of an ineligible player.

The 81’s say they acted on approval by the commissioner and will attempt to appeal this ruling to the Ontario Hockey Association but as it stands, the Ripley Wolves have advanced to the OEHL Paxton Trophy Finals.
