Annual Inflation Rate Rises to 8.1 Per Cent in June

Canada’s inflation rate was up 8.1 per cent in June compared to numbers from a year ago, the largest yearly change since January 1983.

Statistics Canada says the price in June was largely due to the price of gas yet again.

When compared to last year, gas prices were up more than 50 per cent.

The price hike comes as economists have projected with energy and food prices on the rise. May’s inflation rate was 7.7 per cent.
