The Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority has visited sites of fish die-offs in Port Franks and in Lake Huron to provide local technical expertise in support of the investigation by the Ministry.
They are investigating into possible causes after local residents reported dead fish in the two areas in July.
ABCA says sometimes when there is a die-off of a single species of fish, the cause may be a virus affecting that species.
In the most recent occurrence of dead fish, there had been die-offs of several species.
They add it’s a concern for everyone when an occurrence like this happens.
It underline some issues that need addressed to prevent & reduce incidents and to limit the impacts on freshwater fish species including those at risk.
