Bruce County Aims to Get Kids Involved with Activity Assistance Program

Bruce County is aiming to support the inclusion of children from area low-income families with their Child Activities Assistance Program.

The program makes funds available for families with gross incomes below $30,000 for such things as participation in extracurricular activities, school nutrition programs and culture and skill building activities

The funding is available for dependent children, those living at home and those that are under the age of 18. The maximum funding under the program is $300 per year per child.

To apply you must be a Canadian Citizen and resident of Bruce County. A verification of your gross income must also be provided.  You can email the required documents to CAAP@brucecounty.on.ca or you can also mail them to:

There is also financial assistance for fees and equipment or supplies related to sporting program through the local Jumpstart funding.

To apply for subsidy for recreational sporting programs such as hockey, soccer, baseball or swimming an application needs to be submitted to the  Jumpstart program online or a hardcopy picked up at the Bruce County Human Service office location in Walkerton, Kincardine, Port Elgin or Wiarton. Processing can take up to 4 to 6 weeks.
