If you plan to cut down some trees on your property for some long weekend spring cleaning, you might want to make sure you’re even allowed to be cutting down any said trees on your land.
Bruce County is reminding landowners you should know the rules about cutting or harvesting trees with the Forest Conservation Bylaw in place.
The bylaw has been in effect for over 20 years and helps keep responsible tree cutting and supporting sustainable forestry practice.
The bylaw applies if you have a forested area which is 1 hectare or 2.5 acres or larger which contains things such as 1000 trees of any size, 750 trees over 5cm in diameter, 500 trees over 12cm in diameter and 250 trees over 20cm in diameter.
If your property meets size and tree count requirements, the bylaw will apply.
