The Bruce County Library announced the return of its annual Food for Fines program for its 7th year to each of its 17 branches.
From November 28th until December 11th, library cardholders can clear some overdue fines and help support local food banks at the same time.
Each donation of a non-perishable, unexpired food item will clear $5 from your library fines.
This is a $2 increase from previous years. Another significant change to the program is that it removes the $10 maximum of cleared fines as seen in previous years.
With the increase in grocery costs this year, the library says it wanted to adjust accordingly.
Those without fines are welcome to donate as well.
