Local Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MP Alex Ruff has seen an amendment to gun legislation he proposed make its way through the House and passed over to the Senate.
Bill C-21 is an amendment to the Criminal Code to make the transfer of a firearm possible to someone who is also licensed to own firearms for storage when the original owner is going to seek help for mental health issues.
The Authorization to Transport provision is seen as a way to encourage firearms owners to seek the necessary help for health issues without being concerned they will have their firearms taken away.
The amendment passed third reading yesterday and now makes its way to the Senate.
