Bruce Power on-track for 7,000 megawatt output by next decade

Bruce Power announced today that due to its ongoing Major Component Replacement Program it expected to increase its power output from the current 6300 megawatts as of 2016 to 7,000 megawatts through the 2030’s.

The increase the company said is equal to adding another large-scale reactor at the Bruce Power site.

The announcement was made as part of the company taking part in COP27 Conference on Climate Change in Egypt.

The Unit 4 reactor is currently undergoing planned maintenance with plans to return it to service before the end of the year.

Last fall Bruce Power announced a new site generation peak of 6550 megawatts.

Bruce Powers units are set to operate to 2064.
