The Canadian Union of Postal Workers has declared a strike just hours after Ottawa said door to door mail delivery would end for nearly all Canadian households in the next decade.
The union posted on Thursday that all of its Canada Post members would be walking off the job.
The strike comes after Procurement Minister Joel Lightbound announced changes on Thursday to shore up Canada Post’s finances in response to a decline in letter mail with some of these changes including slowing down the frequency of mail delivery and shuttering some post offices.
