Crow Tests Positive for West Nile Virus

Grey Bruce Public Health has been notified an American crow from Grey-Bruce has tested positive for West Nile Virus.

The crow was sent to the Canadian Wildlife Health Co-operative for testing earlier this month.

This is the first bird to test positive for the virus this year and while the risk of humans getting West Nile Virus in Grey-Bruce remains low, the finding serves as a reminder of the importance of taking steps to prevent mosquito bites.

Senior Public Health Manager Andrew Barton says people are most at risk of getting West Nile Virus is in the late summer.
