The Municipality of Kincardine launched the Downtown Dig project that will see the reconstruction of Queen Street and the replacement of key infrastructure underground over the next few months.
To keep residents informed and updated, Shoreline Classics launched the weekly segment “Gettin’ Diggy With It” on Tuesdays as a way for those involved in the project for the Municipality to update on the latest developments in the project.
One added benefit of the reconstruction, says Adam Weishar, Director of Infrastructure & Development for the Municipality is accessibility.
“Through our redesign we were able to incorporate, at minimum and hoping more, 12 properties we are being able to make more accessible through this. That’s exciting in itself.”
The Downtown Dig project has resulted in temporary all-way stops being installed at the intersections of Broadway Street & Huron Terrace and Harbour Street & Huron Terrace to air with traffic on the detour route during the Downtown Dig project.
The Downtown in Kincardine remains open to pedestrian traffic with all area stores open for business.
