Emergency Care Funding Will be Crucial to New Training Centre

There has been a handful of announcements coming from the province, dishing out funding to tackle issues such as housing and emergency care.

Among the recent funding included over $14 million for faster emergency care and to increase the availability of ambulances.

In Huron County, the Land Ambulance Service Grant has increased by 9 per cent meaning the county will see $7,310,485 this year with Bruce County’s share increasing 6 per cent to $7,155,737.

MPP for Huron-Bruce Lisa Thompson says funding such as this will be another boost to a recently opened paramedic training centre.

“We have a wonderful paramedic training centre that just had its opening earlier this year in Port Elgin for the entire county of Bruce. I look forward to seeing how this increase in provincial funding will help support the realization of services our paramedics can offer” said Thompson.

The program also allows paramedics to get back out into the community faster to provide quicker responses to 911 calls and reducing ambulance offload times.
