Estimates to fix Northshore Road Trail come in at $3.85 Million

Estimates to fix Northshore Road Trail come in at .85 Million

The Town of Saugeen Shores received a Staff Report at its most recent Committee of the Whole Meeting on Shoreline Protection & Trail Repair Strategy and a 2023 Work Plan.

In the report they heard that wave action during 2020 high lake levels caused erosion in a 3.6km section of the Northshore Road Trail that required temporary repair work by the town.

The work protected the trail from further damage, but it is limited to 1 lane in certain sections.

The Multi-Year Strategy developed by BM Ross & Associates indicates the total cost of reconstructing shore protection & reconstructing the trail in some areas further up the bank will come at a cost of $3.85 million dollars.

The work is proposed in stages from 2023 through 2027.

Council voted to receive the report and directed staff to explore options to provide access to the lake from the Northshore Road Trail.
