This means on Monday, September 19th federal employees will get a day off work, similar to the way Remembrance Day is observed.
The Ontario government announced later in the day it would mark it a Provincial Day of Mourning in lieu of a provincial holiday with a moment of silence observed at 1:00 pm.
The CFIB estimates the short notice on the holiday could have cost the economy billions, and was behind it not being declared a statutory holiday.
