A flood watch has been issued by Saugeen Conservation as frazil ice has started to collect in the channel downstream of the Durham Lower Dam.
This has caused water levels to gradually rise in the area since Monday with a partial blockage of the channel being present between the Durham Upper Dam and Durham Middle Dam.
Frazil ice occurs when open water meets cold air and can lead to localized high water conditions in certain areas.
The public is asked to avoid the Main Saugeen River between the Durham Lower Dam and community ball diamonds.
