A former news reporter is the new Southampton Ward Councillor on Saugeen Shores Council.
John Divinski was chosen by Council to fill the seat at a special meeting on Monday.
Divinski says he put his name in soon after his predecessor John Rich announced that he was leaving for family reasons.
Divinski beat out nine other candidates that were in the running for the vacant seat.
He says he was up against some very good, qualified candidates, and admits that he did feel nervous appearing before Council.
Divinski received four votes of the seven present on Council, two other candidates split the remaining three.
He will serve on Council for the remainder of the 2018-2022 term.
