George Edwin Chin Passes Away

Lucknow native George Edwin Chin, part of the famous “Chin Line” in amateur hockey died peacefully at the age of 94 on November 28th.

George was the 7th son of a family of 14 children born in Lucknow on July 28th, 1929.

His two brother Bill and Abe were part of the famous “Chin Line” who were a massive success in amateur hockey where he and his brothers attended training camp for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Chin family who operated a Chinese restaurant also introduced Paul Henderson to the sport in their basement when a thin layer of water would freeze in the larder of the basement.

A celebration of life for George will be held in the new year.
