There is still more to look over and discuss but Goderich council seems to looking turning the former arena into a multi use facility.
Council looked over a Draft Comprehensive Plan from the GSP group during their meeting this week including some costs around the building.
GSP says alone just to get the arena up to code and reopened would cost close to $90,000 with a full phase approach for the repurposing being around $14 million.
President and Senior Planner for GSP, Steve Weaver says the need for the building is still loud.
“On the surface it might look like Goderich’s population you have all you need in terms of gym space and multi purpose space…but when you scratch below that surface you see that are other limitations on what you can accommodate.” said Weaver.
Council still wants to hear from local groups as they get near phase 1 of the arena revitalization.
