Goderich Mayor’s race sees Current Councillor Matt Hoy add his name to the Ballot

There was a development in the Municipal Election for the Town of Goderich this afternoon.

The race for Mayor gained another candidate as of 3:30 pm this afternoon.

Current Municipal Councillor for Goderich Matt Hoy submitted his nomination paperwork to join the race for Mayor joining current Deputy Mayor Myles Murdock who filed his paperwork 2 days ago.

In his post Hoy says he has mixed feelings about making the move as he says it was never his intention to run for the role with the late Mayor John Grace’s name on the ballot.

In terms of replacing the Deputy Mayor Position with Goderich Council, current Councillor Trevor Bazinet has filed his paperwork to run for the role.

Election day is Monday, October 24^th.
