Grey County council is moving ahead with a plan to transfer road between the county and its local municipalities.
Council approved a proposal seeing all county owned roads in urban areas be transferred to the local municipalities they lay in.
The county and local municipalities will also exchange responsibility for sections of some rural roads to better align with modern traffic behaviour.
Warden Andrea Matrosovs says by re-aligning certain rural roads, the county will have responsibility for local roads which are already functioning like a regional road.
This transfer will include 10 years of supporting funding for local municipalities totaling around $42.8 million which is a combination of transition funding, transferred development charge money and funding to offset other roads.
