Grey Highlands joins growing Network of Environmentally Responsible Municipalities in Ontario

The Municipality of Grey Highlands says in efforts to increase its waste diversion and lowers its carbon footprint, it has expanded its network of recycling points to recycle used household batteries.

Convenient drop off buckets have been installed at all arenas and libraries in the Municipality. This offers each community a safe and easy way to dispose of and recycle household batteries in addition to its Waste and Diversion Sites.

Items accepted include rechargeable & single-use batteries weighing 5kg or less.

All battery types require proper end-of-life management, meaning they must be recycled at a municipal hazardous waste depot, through an approved service provider or retail take-back program

In 2019, Raw Materials Company, which runs the program Grey Highlands is a part of, recycled 50% of all available primary batteries sold in Ontario.
