In the last month of the year the number of homes sold for 2023 dropped across the region.
The Huron-Perth Association of Realtors says 83 units sold in December, bringing the total to 1683 for all of 2023, a drop of 9.1 per cent from 2022.
Bob Heimpel, President of the HPAR says this is mainly due to higher interest rates pushing buyers to the sideline.
Heimpel adds while December showed some promise of setting the tone for this year they’ll need to wait until the spring market to get a better picture on what to expect for the year ahead.
The average price of a home sold across the region was $582,206, a drop of 4.3 per cent from the same time last year.
There were 123 new listings for December.
