The Huron Manufacturing Association is set to see its School Bus Tours resume this month to offer exposure to high school students of various skilled trades in the area.
The program has seen an expansion this time to Perth County as compared to just Huron County as in the past. Chair of the HMA Larry Livingston explains.
“We have a major shortfall of boots in the ground personnel for the different manufacturers and businesses and what not. If we can draw some of those students out of the Perth Region to fill some of the vacancies in the job market why not.”
Livingston adds that in terms of response from students they had one site see 5 students hired the day following the tour to their site last October.
