Huron Perth Public Health have seen a bat located in Ashfield-Colbourne-Wawanosh test positive for rabies.
The bat was sent for testing after biting an individual.
They have received post exposure treatment, which prevents them from getting rabies.
This is the first animal to test positive for rabies this year, and the fourth to test positive since January of 2020.
HPPH advise if you are bitted or scratched by a bat, or if infectious material (such as saliva) from a bat gets in your eyes, nose, or an open wound, to wash the area thoroughly and seek medical attention immediately.
