The event featured a virtual ribbon cutting ceremony for an Afro-centric mural created at the Davidson Centre celebrating the history and contributions of members of the Black Community.
There is a time lapse video of the creation of the mural available online.
Kincardine Mayor Glover recognized local community members Jenny Hunter and Meag Durkin for their leadership in making the mural happen. He also recognized the artist, Phillip Saunders, for his contribution of beautiful art for the community.
In addition to the mural there was a panel discussion of three Black leaders who discussed their history and how important it is to see it reflected in art, textbooks, media, literature, history, photos and more.
Present were Dr. Eugenia Duodu; CEO of Visions of Science, Parul Pandya; founder of Community Impact Consulting and Jennifer Hunter; local musician, educator and community activist.
