South Bruce OPP say this is called the “money for bail” scam where the scammers posing as police officers phones and tells the person on the other end of the line that someone they know is in jail and requires bail to be released.
They say the caller will arrange to have the money picked up by an unmarked courier.
OPP say no officer or detachment will call and arrange for bail nor do they collect money.
They are once again reminding residents that con-artists have become more tech-savvy and sophisticated to make scams more realistic and convincing.
They say scammers will often use the names of reputable organizations to try and get at your money.
