Local unemployment across the area has dropped to 4.8 per cent.
The Four County Labour Market Planning Board says employment across the region increased by 1600 in September with gains seen in fulltime at 3000 offset by losses of 1400 in part time.
The region continues to sit at the second lowest unemployment rate in the province only behind Northwest Ontario.
The provincial unemployment rate remained unchanged this month at 8.3 per cent.
Dana Soucie, Executive Director for the Four County Labour Market Planning Board says with the increase in full time jobs and participation rates, the region’s labour force is trending in the right direction.
