Police were called to a grocery store in Port Elgin Thursday, January 6th at 8:08pm after receiving a call concerning a male allegedly threatening people and causing damage at a grocery store.
A male and female were confronted by another customer over not wearing masks. The dispute escalated leading to the male customer threatening to cause bodily harm to the other male. A bystander who attempted to intervene was also threatened.
The altercation continued in the parking lot, where the male brandished a baseball bat in a dangerous manner towards the male and female. The male then struck the taillight of the victim’s vehicle causing damage.
A 56 year old male of Port Elgin has been charged with mischief, three counts of uttering threats and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
The accused has been released with a future court date.
