Morris-Turnberry alongside the Maitland Valley Conservation Authority has dismantled the memorial gates at Galbraith Field following structure damage.
The entrance gates at the field in Lowertown, Wingham were taken down on Tuesday.
The municipality became aware on May 25th of a which a vehicle had struck the upper portion of the entrance gates causing extensive damage to both the metal sign and field stone pillars supporting the structure.
After an inspection it was determined the structure was unsafe and a risk to public safety.
Each stone was carefully marked and cataloged to document its original location.
All stone and metal components will be stored until a time a plan can be made regarding the future of the memorial.
