A federal program has marked the area as a preferred location for a 65 metre tower along Harriston Road between Gorrie and Wroxeter.
A letter given to the municipality states the tower will support coverage and networks for all major wireless network providers.
There currently is no tower in the township was has seen some issues in terms of signal and there is now a chance to improve the signal.
Reeve Doug Harding says the entire matter is federal and they simply received information on the preferred site, adding Howick doesn’t really have much of a say in the matter.
