There’s a new Wiarton Willie in South Bruce Peninsula.
Following the passing of the previous Wiarton Willie on March 10th, the new albino groundhog will be taking on the role of predicting a longer winter or early spring.
Mayor Jay Kirkland says they are thrilled to welcome a new albino groundhog and look forward to watching him settle into his new home and seeing what he has to say about the weather on February 2nd.
Since the first Wiarton Willie Festival in 1956, Wiarton Willie has become an internationally recognized symbol for Wiarton and South Bruce Peninsula.
