Outages throughout area as winter winds, freezing rain arrives

About 175 customers around Goderich are still without power this afternoon, and the latest estimates from Hydro One say the outage won’t be resolved until tonight.

There’s no cause listed for the outage near the airport that has impacted 150 customers, or one along Orchard Line hitting another 26. The latest estimates say power won’t be back until 10 p.m.

Earlier outages in Wingham and Howick have been resolved, but there’s still several smaller ones around the region impacting fewer than 20 customers, including ones in Kintail and a few near the Lake Wawanosh Conservation Area.

9:45 a.m.

Over 140 customers in Howick have had their power restored, but there’s still plenty of outages for Hydro One crews across Bruce and Huron Counties.

A tree on a line has left over 330 people in Wingham without power. There’s no estimate on when the situation will be resolved.

There’s several outages around Goderich that crews are still working on, with 150 customers near the airport expected to get power back after 10 a.m. Two outages south of town are also expected to be resolved around then.

Due to the weather, Huron Perth Public Health (HPPH) has cancelled today’s COVID-19 vaccination clinics in Clinton and Stratford.

8 a.m.

Over 150 customers near the Goderich Airport have lost power this morning, and crews say it will be out for a few hours.

Hydro One crews estimate that power won’t return until around 10:15 a.m. as they respond to a handful of outages brought on by the wind and freezing rain.

There’s also one south of Goderich impacting 64 customers near Porter’s Hill.

Farther up Hwy 21, there’s an outage hitting 24 Kintail customers. This comes as crews are still working on restoring power for people in Wingham and Howick, who lost their lights earlier this morning.

7:30 a.m.

About 140 customers in Howick are without power this morning, as Hydro One crews are investigating an outage north of Gorrie.

They estimate power will be restored by 9 a.m.

There’s still no estimate on when power will be back on for the 165 customers in Wingham who lost electricity earlier this morning.

About 165 customers in Wingham are without power this morning as winter weather begins to batter the region.

Hydro One crews have been dispatched to the scene with no estimate when power will be restored.

It’s one of several outages workers are attending this morning, as outages have also been reported south of Bluevale and on Glennanon Road near Belmore.

All of those outages are impacting 20 customers or less.

Buses across Bruce and Huron counties have been cancelled this morning due to the weather, including Kincardine, Saugeen Shores and Walkerton.
