Andy Oke is currently working with Staff in Central Huron on a Zoning Change for the Proposed Property as it currently is zoned for being a now decomissioned gravel pit. It is located on Parr Line just off Telephone Road.
Oke says that even during Covid times they found lots of business from tourists and outdoor enthusiasts.
“Actually Covid was fantastic for us. People wanted to get outside, they wanted to do something, people were searching and they found us. We really brought in a lot of tourism. We had people coming from Toronto just for the day.”
The main business at the facility is called cable wakeboarding. Instead of relying on a boat, the service uses an electric motor with zip lines and wakeboard handles. They can pull at any speed across the lake.
Windmill now needs as many residents, tourists and more to voice their support for the business as they work on attaining a temporary permit to operate the business this spring.

The key says Oke is retaining the seasonal business and not losing the momentum they’ve built over the last 8 years.
