The Town of Saugeen Shores Council renewed the lease with the Port Adult Recreation Centre 55 plus group for their use of the Rotary Hall for a term of three years at the January 9th meeting.
The group offers the senior part of the Town’s population, of which 19% is in the age group, with such things as line dancing, bridge, ping pong, a monthly book club and more.
The group returned after being away for 18 months due to the pandemic.
Mayor Charbonneau says he’s happy to see them back.
“It’s a great group that provides good opportunities for seniors in our community to get together, to socialize and have some fun. I’m very pleased they are back up and running.”
The group has been operating the program for more than 20 years.
The term for the space started October 31st, 2022.
The cost to the group is just over $1,700 per year plus HST.
