The Municipality of North Huron says that Wingham’s Homecoming for next year has not been cancelled, in the wake of a social media post that raised concerns the event was off.
A Facebook page dedicated to planning the homecoming wrote last night that they had no further plans to organize this event, directing questions to the municipality.
Town Clerk Carson Lamb clarified in an email that while two members of the recently-formed Homecoming Committee had resigned from their positions, council has not cancelled the weekend.
Council established the 2024 Wingham Homecoming Committee at their Feb. 6 meeting, appointing Debbie Hodgins, Ken Hogg, Trina Huffman, Kendra Kregar, Angela McPherson and Tanya Toll as volunteer members.
Staff will now be seeking direction regarding the vacancies at a future meeting of council.
The Wingham Homecoming is slated to run June 28 to July 1, 2024.
