Police receive tip from off-duty paramedic about suspected drug-impaired driver

An off-duty paramedic is being credited with helping stop a suspected drug-impaired driver in Saugeen Shores.

The call came into police Sunday afternoon around 2:15 and officers went to a local business where they found a female driver matching the description that was given in the front seat of a car.

A further investigation determined that the driver was impaired by drugs and was taken to the detachment where it was confirmed by a drug-recognition expert.

Investigators also found some suspected methamphetamine, and stolen license plates, and the driver allegedly provided a false name.

The 48-year-old from Walkerton is facing charges.
