Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson announced Farmers and the province’s wider agri-food sector are set to benefit from an upcoming new, five-year agreement between the Province and the Federal government on a range of investments in the sector.
It is entitled the “Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership” and will see upwards of $1.7 billion in supports for the agri-food sector. $569 million will be invested in strategic initiatives, which is a 25% increase over the previous agreement.
There will also be $1.2 billion for continued, demand-driven, business risk management support for farmers.
This will see boosted investment in research & innovation to strengthen the sector including the new Resilient Agricultural Landscape Program to work on mitigating climate change and support the sector in better addressing sustainable outcomes.
