Province invests over $280,000 in Women in Carpentry Training in Huron-Kinloss

Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson announced today that the Province is investing over $280,000 in the Women in Carpentry 2.0 program in Huron-Kinloss.

The program purpose is to empower women to enter the carpentry trade by providing training and skills development, including safety in construction and on-site work placement.

The program is made possible through a partnership between the Township, Fanshawe College, the UBC Local 2222 Carpenter’s Union and VPI Employment Services.

Thompson says that the program fills a void that has existed in skilled labour for far too long, which is for women to pursue a career in carpentry.
