It’s tick season and Grey Bruce Public Health is issuing a reminder of residents to take steps to prevent bites and in turn, Lyme disease.
There is an established portion in Grey-Bruce considered an established risk area for blacklegged tickets, a species capable of transmitting bacteria, viruses and parasites which can cause serious disease such as Lyme disease.
Public Health Manager Gillian Jordan says because of the warming climate tickts are now active for longer periods each year, including early spring and into the late fall.
Public health says to use bug spray, wear closed toe shoes and covering exposed skin and to walk on cleared paths or trails.
