Grey Bruce Public Health is reminding the public never to handle or feed wild animals across the area.
Touching, handling, feeding or trying to care for any wild animal such as racoons, bats, skunks and foxes can lead to serious health and injury.
These animals in Ontario are the most common carriers of rabies and while the chances of catching it are low, a person can contact the virus if bitten or scratched by an infected animal of if its saliva gets into an open cut.
Senior Public Health Manager, Andrew Barton says always to observe wild animals from a safe distance and never pick up or handle a wild animal.
