Public Health Urging Safety Amidst Heat Wave

Public Health Urging Safety Amidst Heat Wave

As another heat waves hits the region, Huron-Perth Public Health is urging safety as temperatures could reach up to 30-37 degrees before the humidex values.

The heat wave is expected to last either Wednesday or Thursday with today marking the peak of the heat event.

During extreme heat, the risks are the greatest for older adults, infants and young children, people who work in the heat and those experiencing homelessness.

Public health says the best ways to avoid over exposure to the heat is to drink plenty of cool liquids especially water, plan outdoor activities during cooler parts of the day, wear loose fitting, light coloured clothing and prepare meals which do not need to be cooked in the oven.
