Shortly after 8:03am on October 12, 2021 Huron OPP responded to Charles Street in Wingham to check on the driver of a pickup truck.
Officers arrived shortly thereafter and had the occasion to speak with the driver. Upon speaking with the driver police noted the driver was displaying signs of impairment through a drug.
Upon arrest police conducted a search and found a quantity of suspected methamphetamine.
The driver was subsequently evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert and he was deemed to be impaired by a drug.
A 23 year old male of Wingham has been charged with impaired operation, possession of a schedule 1 substance methamphetamine and operating a motor vehicle without insurance.
The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance for December 6, 2021 at a Goderich Court.
