Saugeen First Nation has joined Huron, Bruce and Grey Counties in issuing a total fire ban effective immediately.
They have banned all outdoor, open-air fires at this time including those for cooking and warmth.
The decision was made due to the dry & hot weather creating extremely high-risk conditions that could result in an uncontrolled burn and generate widespread forest fires.
Those who are found not to be complying with the ban could face fines of up to $50,000 under the Ontario Fire Code.
