Saugeen Shores and Saugeen First Nation have approved a new Community Tourism Strategy helping to serve a shared roadmap to guide tourism development over the next five years.
The strategy identifies key opportunities for the future including Strengthening collaboration between Saugeen Shores and Saugeen First Nation.
This includes celebrating and promoting Indigenous culture, history, and storytelling, Expanding four-season tourism opportunities beyond beaches and summer visitation, Supporting environmental stewardship and responsible tourism, Creating authentic visitor experiences that reflect the unique identities of Port Elgin, Southampton, and Saugeen First Nation, Supporting local businesses and community well-being through sustainable tourism growth.
Mayor Luke Charbonneau says this strategy reflects the commitment to working together with Saugeen First Nation to create a destination that benefits residents, supports local businesses, and encourages stewardship of the lands and waters we all value.
