Saugeen Shores has launched a Life Jacket Loaner Program at the Port Elgin Main Beach.
The program launched with the support of a $2500 donation from the Society of United Professionals Bruce Power Local.
Everyone is welcome to borrow a life jacket at no cost which range in all sizes from kids to adults.
Mayor Luke Charbonneau says its a simple fact, wearing a life jacket significantly reduces your risk of drowning while out on the water.
Life jackets will be regularly inspected throughout the year with the town planning to evaluate the program at the end of the year and consider expanding it to other beaches.
