The Saugeen Shores Police Service shared the news that porch pirates are causing havoc in Saugeen Shores.
They say to try and take steps to ensure their packages don’t fall victim to these thefts.
- Consider installing a doorbell camera or small CCTV system at the front of your house. Cameras with motion detectors will alert you to any potential thieves and will also help notify you when a packages has been delivered.
- leave a storage container at the front of your house for packages to be put inside, this way they are out of direct view of potential thieves
- leave specific instructions for your delivery, possibly have them put the parcels at the back or side of your home away from street view
- talk to your neighbours and make a plan to help each other out and take each others packages inside if the other is not home.
- purchase insurance just incase
They say to the thieves that they will find you and you will be charged.
