The Town of Saugeen Shores Council reviewed the plan for the Aquatics & Wellness Centre at Tuesday’s Council Meeting.
The designs for the property have recently been revised in order to keep it within the approved $50 million dollar budget.
Ball Construction was brought into review the cost estimates on the project and found it over $10 over that budget and changes in design were implemented.
They include reduction in lanes of the walking track, storage changes, roof alterations and more.
Vice Deputy Mayor Mike Myatt spoke to fundraising & sponsorship opportunities available.
“There is an opportunity. There will be naming rights I am assuming for the track, fitness facility, some of the rooms. So those listening please start thinking about it.”
The project just saw application for site plan approval with the goal now of seeing the issueing of a construction permit.
Construction is set to begin in August with the building expected to be substantially complete by February 2025.
