Security Guard & Police Officer Assaulted in Incident at the Goderich Hospital Monday

Huron County OPP say it has arrested a Huron County man who assaulted a security guard and forced his way into the Emergency Department in Goderich.

Police were called to the scene Monday at approximately 6:25 pm after learning of the assault by the suspect.

He also threatened to harm several staff members while carrying a weapon.

The suspect vacated the premises prior to police arrival but was located shortly thereafter.

Upon arrest the accused resisted and assaulted one officer who received a minor injury.

A 63-year-old of ACW has been charged with:

• resisting arrest
• 2 counts of criminal harassment
• 7 counts of uttering threats
• 2 counts of assault
• 5 counts of assault with a weapon
• assaulting a police officer
• assaulting a police officer with a weapon
• breaking & entering
• mischief under $5,000
• 4 counts of possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose
• 2 counts of carrying a concealed weapon

The accused remains in custody pending a court appearance set for a Goderich Court tomorrow.
