The SIU is looking into a police shooting which led to the death of a 48 year old man.
On February 21st, the man was said to have committed multiple vehicle thefts and break and enters in several jurisdictions.
As the day unfolded, police made attempts to locate the man who was eventually found in the afternoon driving a stolen vehicle with a tire deflation device used, resulting the vehicle leaving the roadway where the suspect then tried fleeing on foot.
The man was found in the area of Sideroad 13 and Bruce-Saugeen Townline when the man and police had interacted resulting in an officer firing his weapon, striking the man.
Life saving measures were preformed but the 48 year old was pronounced deceased in hospital.
The SIU has investigating the case with a post mortem expected later today.
