The South Bruce OPP saw one of their Constables Kevin Martin awarded the Road Safety Lifetime Achievement Award recently from the Ontario Ministry of Transportation.
Constable Martin has been a police officer with the South Bruce OPP Detachment since April 25th, 2001.
Martin said this to why he does what he does while policing the area.
“It was the human impact for me that got me started. It was those fatal collisions. Those serious collisions. Where you see first hand the fire fighters, the paramedics, the officers, the families and communities at large that are ripped apart.”
He added that when drivers make split second decisions can have catastrophic impacts in people’s lives and added it’s the police’s absolute duty to make roads safer for others.
